Performance Automotive, one of Cincinnati’s largest private firms, makes acquisition

One of the region’s largest private companies has acquired a decades-old family-owned dealership. On Aug. 4, West Chester Township-based Performance Automotive Network purchased Walker Toyota. The dealership, which is located off Interstate 75 at8457 N. Springboro Pike in Miamisburg, has officially rebranded to South Dayton Toyota.

“We’re changing the name but certainly continuing the legacy they’ve built,” Shane Dever, president of Performance Automotive Cincinnati, told me.

Walker Toyota has been a family-owned organization for over 30 years, according to the company’s website. Dever did not disclose the acquisition cost, but he did say it included a land purchase of around 10 acres. The dealership features multiple showrooms that span around 15,000 square feet, 35 service bays and a full-service collision center.

Walker previously sold Mitsubishi vehicles on the site along with Toyotas. And although Performance Automotive acquired all the land and the buildings, it will not be selling the Mitsubishi brand, according to Dever.

Under the new ownership, the company will continue to offer a full line of new and used Toyota vehicles, a selection of pre-owned cars along with what it calls a “top-tier” service department.

All 85 associates have been offered an opportunity to remain at the location. The company will also be hiring additional employees.

“We will be staffing up, because we’re expecting higher volume in both salesand service,” Dever said. “Vehicles are still in high demand and low supply.”

Performance Automotive will also be conducting a major facility upgrade that will double its service capacity and add customer and employee benefits, including a new waiting room, modernized showrooms and a new technician wing that will feature updated restrooms, locker rooms and break rooms for employees.

Dever said the renovations will start once permits are approved. An exact timeline and cost for the project was not disclosed to the Courier.

This is Performance Automotive’s sixth Toyota Dealership, and the brand already has a presence in the area, operating other dealerships. Performance Automotive has two existing dealerships in Centerville, near Miamisburg in the Greater Dayton region.

Dever also said the company is dedicated to providing exceptional customer service along with a wide range of vehicles.

“We are looking to take customer service to a new level,” he said.

Sales hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5:00 p.m.

Performance Automotive operates a diverse portfolio of dealerships across Ohio in Greater Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, Marysville, Delaware and in Greater Salt Lake City. In addition to Toyota, the company’s 18 dealerships include Lexus, Honda, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Chevrolet, Buick, Ford and Lincoln.

It also operates several collision repair facilities and Motor Sports dealerships for motorcycles and ATVs. In March 2025, Performance Luxury Sport, a member of the Performance Automotive Network, opened in the former Performance Lexus RiverCenter in Covington.

Performance Automotive is Cincinnati’s sixth-largest private company, according to Courier research. The company reported a 2024 revenue of $2.31 billion.
